The following is a brief description of the actions required at the accident site:

Stop your vehicle and turn off the engine. Stay calm and don't panic. When other people see you panicking, they can panic too, which will only make the situation worse.

Check yourself and your passengers for injuries. Then check the other drivers/passengers involved. Don't move anyone who might get hurt. If possible, keep your passengers off the road without injuring them. But they must remain on the scene.

You have to alert oncoming traffic (in any direction) by activating warning lights or setting alarms or signals. If necessary, call emergency services and report the accident. Don't admit that someone is guilty or responsible for the accident. Discuss accidents only with investigators or your insurance/claims handler.

If necessary, you will need to exchange information with other drivers involved. Gather as much of the following information as possible. This information is useful for litigation claims, insurance, and medical examinations. Remember, the driver of the vehicle is not always the owner – just find out.
