Visiting Korea this winter? Although so far the weather has been unnaturally warm in Seoul,there are plenty of outdoor winter themed activities that are open, and some that are easier to attend BECAUSE the weather is so nice!

Visit Winter Themed Everland!

Attend the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival!
Hwacheon Sancheneo, mountain trout festival will begin early January and takes place in Gangwon-do. It is visited every year by millions of tourists and residents alike, and includes events ranging from ice fishing, ice sleigh, bobsledding, and others!
For ice fishing, 12,000 ice holds are cut along the river! You are able to see the mountain trout swimming below the ice, and every festival, even beginners and children are able to catch fish!

Boseong Light Festival!
One of the most beautiful sites, we posted about this last year including directions on how to set to Boseong by public transportation!
Right now might be the best time to visit because it is not too cold, but any time is great! The Boseong Light Festival lasts until the end of January, and Monday~ Thursday until 10:00pm.
You can be sure to catch it on Friday and Saturday night until Midnight!
Special Time: Be sure to check it out on New Years Eve, because you will be able to see the lights until 7 am!!

#1 Winter Activity- Enjoy the Slopes!!
What is the number one winter activity in Korea?
Skii-ing and snow-boarding of course!
Whether you hit the slopes for half a day or decide to spend more than one night in a ski resort, your winter trip to Korea will not be complete without a trip to the slopes!

Garden of Morning Calm Lighting Festival
This is one of the biggest lighting festivals in Korea, and one you definitely should not miss out on! Illuminated by 30,000 lights, the lighting festivals can be enjoyed until the end of March, and is open until 21:00. (The lighting show begins at 18:00, so don’t get there too early!)
